Our Mission
At Rising Outdoor Initiative (ROI), our mission is to empower future generations by providing hands-on hunting and fishing opportunities to those with limited resources. We are committed to promoting sportsmanship, teaching essential skills and safety practices, and fostering a deep understanding of the vital role that responsible outdoor activities play in conservation efforts. Through education and immersive experiences, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable outdoor practices in preserving our ecosystems and supporting our economy, ensuring a lasting, positive impact for individuals and the environment.
Who can apply?
Rising Outdoor Initiative is dedicated to helping individuals who are passionate about becoming outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen by providing training and experiences to those with limited resources. This includes youth and adults who face financial difficulties that impede their ability to gain these experiences on their own, individuals with disabilities or diagnoses that make it challenging to access these opportunities without assistance, as well as those who lack the knowledge or experience and are seeking a mentor. Applications will be reviewed by the ROI Board Members, and selections will be based on available opportunities. All hunting and fishing experiences are made possible by our generous donors and sponsors. As a result, the number and types of experiences available each season may vary. However, we encourage all interested individuals to apply!

Conservation Corner
Hunters have played a vital role in ecosystems for as long as humankind has existed. Like any other omnivore (and carnivores), harvesting food for sustenance has always been key to survival. However, with the ease of access to meat and protein sources in grocery stores, many have forgotten where their food comes from or were never taught. This lack of knowledge and understanding can lead to skewed viewpoints on the importance of hunting and its role in conservation efforts.
While overhunting and the hunting of endangered animals have been issues at times, true outdoorsmen and women understand and appreciate nature and the delicate balance within ecosystems. Unfortunately, it is not hunters or those who work to preserve nature and keep lands undeveloped that have the most negative impact on the environment, but rather the expansion of human development as the population grows. Reduction and destruction of habitats result in the death and displacement of animals. Even slight disruptions in aquatic invertebrates, plants, and pollinators can have significant impacts on food chains.
Hunters contribute to the preservation of natural lands through funding via non-profits, the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses, and the donation of harvested meat to food banks. These efforts support not only our wildlife but also our communities.

Cassie Dee Memorial Trip
In remembrance of Cassie Dee, each year one lucky first-time hunter or fisher will be selected to receive the 'Cassie Dee First-Time Hunter/Fisher Trip.' Participants will be chosen based on their applications, which will include an essay about what this trip would mean to them
